It Could Use Some Salt

I spent a lot of time these past few weeks putting anything I can find into my mouth. My dad triple-dog-dared me to eat a flower. I polished it off in under 10 seconds. I'm seriously considering entering myself into a chicken wing eating contest.

My Valentine

Mom and Dad spent Valentines Day out on the town, but I didn't mind - I had my own date with Wendy that night. Being the gentlemen that I am, I greeted her at the door with some sugar free Werther's, a card and a dozen red roses. I think the shirt says it all.

One Step Closer to the Bobbie

I had my first solid food ever tonight! Up until 7:18pm on Saturday, February 9th, 2008, I had nourished myself exclusively from one source - mom. Tonight, I had 1/8 cup of rice cereal (mixed with mom's milk for good measure). It may not look like it, but some actually went into my mouth. I would be remiss if I did not take this opportunity to acknowledge my mom for 4.5 months of painstaking, tiring, exhausting, sometimes frustrating, but very committed breast feeding efforts on my behalf. Mom, it was worth it. The next eight months will go by so fast now that I am munching on this flavorless mush from Whole Foods.

Birthing Class Reunion

I had a unique reunion today at my friend Aviel's house in West Philadelphia. My parents took a "Birthing From Within" class to help them prepare for my physical arrival into the world. There were four other couples in the class and the results were five healthy babies - me, Liam (great name), Leo, Aviel and Tess. The highlight of the day was seeing Mari-Carmen (our doula) and her own kids (that's Jocelyn holding me above). Mari was one of the first people I saw as I made my way into this world. I almost jumped into her arms. Needless to say, she kind of has a special place in my heart. Can you tell I was excited to see her?

My Long Term Investment Strategy

Dad and I sat down this past weekend to talk about my strategic options for weathering the current economic conditions. Luckily, I am about 65 years away from retirement age (give or take), so those options are looking pretty good. He did fill me in on the cost of four-years of college tuition. (He whispered it to me so Mom wouldn't hear.) I became slightly overwhelmed after the initial shock wore off. I better start charging people for this smile.

Super Bowl Party

I had the pleasure of attaining VIP status at Steve Vo's Third Annual Super Bowl Extravaganza. I helped myself to a few beers and the baked potato and sundae bars with wild abandon. I also had my first opportunity to lose money in a failed attempt at gambling. Many thanks to Steve and Kate for the hospitality and hugs. (Sorry - I was too busy checking out the Giants pass rush to pay attention to the photographer.)
